My Journey & Testimony

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

Jeremiah 29:11

My doula journey started after Covid intervened my nursing school pursuit. I had finished my nursing prerequisites at Palomar College with a general education degree emphasizing science and math. During that time I worked as a certified phlebotomist at a local clinic, and was accepted into nursing school before understanding the enforced Covid mandates in colleges. Due to my personal beliefs I decided against the path of pursuing an RN L&D degree despite the heartbreak. I saw over half my lifetime of hopes and dreams not coming to fruition. However, I quickly recovered and knew that God had my best interests at heart. My faith was greatly tested, but I knew in the end that God would bring me out of this valley with victory. In my healing process I recalled meeting a doula at my church and decided to reach out for more information. I told her everything that happened, and that my heart and passion was still to be involved in birth.

After the insightful conversation I had with my doula connection I immediately started working toward my own certification through DONA. A couple months later I became a CD(DONA). Throughout that process I learned and will continue to learn all about physiological birth, and comfort measures to assist mom’s during labor. Being able to help women birth naturally and trusting their bodies that God designed is where my heart is. I love the holistic approach doulas provide for birth and encapsulating placentas is another fascinating natural route. Through APPA I am a certified placenta encapsulator and placenta keepsake maker.

My journey to becoming a doula was definitely not your typical story, but I love my testimony! I am blessed with the ability to spread awareness of the importance of doulas, and get to build long- lasting connections with my clients. I look forward to seeing what the Lord is going to do through me when serving each of my beautiful clients!

When I am not at a birth or working on placentas you can find me spending quality time with my friends, family and animals. I’m an equestrian and always up for a baseball game, walk on the beach, or an outing at a restaurant!
